Hello everyone! Today I will be talking about the presentations my class did for chapters 3,9, and 10. My professor split our class up into 3 groups and assigned us our chapters. Group one had chapter 1 and they talked about Intercultural communication. My group which is Group 2 had Communication in groups, which is chapter 9. Lastly Group 3 had chapter 10 which is Group Leadership and Problem Solving. All the groups had to make a PowerPoint and had to talk about the chapters they did and explain the topics of the chapters. My group decided that it was best to make a Whatsapp group chat to communicate on what our assigned sections from the chapters we were to do, and we all decided that each of us should do 3 words each. The only problem now is is someone would have an extra word, but Joyce was so nice enough to volunteer to do the extra word.  The first group to go up was Group 1 and from what i remember is they did pretty well. They had so many videos and pho...

Blog 1 - Kelly Vaca

Hello! My name is Kelly Vaca and I am a student at Miami Dade College. One of my classes for the spring semester of 2022 is SPC 1017, also known as Introduction to Communication, taught by Professor Sherri Sinkoff. This group project, for being my first-ever college presentation, went better than I expected. We were given a lot of creative freedom which was overwhelming at first but ultimately each group was assigned a chapter from the textbook to explain to the class through our presentations. One point that Sherri mentioned was to not include too many words on the slide itself. It made me think about what I wanted to say and how I wanted to show it. I believe that really helped make the presentations more visually engaging. The relationship between culture and communication. Group One started us off with Chapter Three, “Intercultural Communication”. They had a little under two days to prepare the presentation but they sure did deliver. Group One divided the chapter by headings and ev...

Jennifer Escalona's Blog

Hello, my name is Jennifer Escalona, and I'm writing this blog as part of my Introduction to Communications class. So far, I have learned so much from my professor and the other students in the class. It doesn't happen very often, but I'm enjoying this class and have learned a lot in such a short amount of time. In the last few classes that I have attended, we had to do a group presentation. The class was divided into three groups, and we were all required to discuss certain topics from the textbook that had been assigned in class. I was in group 2 and got the opportunity to work with some very nice people. Everyone pitched in to support each other in every way they could; it genuinely felt like a team. All the groups delivered wonderful presentations and provided me with a lot of information on topics I was unfamiliar with. This group project has allowed me to meet and learn from these incredible people. Not only did the project teach me a lot, but it also taug...

Juan dos Santos

Group projects are essential for new expiriences in life and College  Hello, my name is Juan dos Santos and I'm writing this blog with the purpose of telling my experience/story of working on group projects and learning about their ad vantages and benefits\. ]   My experience of my very first time working in group projects in college has been very exciting since Professor Sinkoff is making us do and interact with the topics that we are learning during the different classes and assignments . This time , the class was split into 3 groups , G roup 1 was assigned with C hapter 3 , Group 2 was assigned with   the chapter 9, and Group 3 having chapter 10 . Maria was selected as our class leader so she had to do the introduc tions for all three groups, which in my opinion was an excellent work by her. This activity was a great way to start a new way to work and accomplish a goal with other people that are looking for the same succes s.   Group 2 was the gro...

Joyce Albayay Post 1

Speech Communication presentations, personal perspective of the expositions, and my learning outcome This blog was created to comply with my speech class assignment and it only intends to share my point of view and first-hand observation of facts of this class guided by Professor Sherri Sinkoff, whom with a very clever and constructive strategy of bringing interesting guests (professional colleagues), and/or imparting tools and tips in every class, allows us (the students) to take control of this course without directly noticing that we are gaining knowledge with experimental learning. In other words, Professor Sinkoff introduces, directs/conducts, and influences this class while we explore, and learn the course material hands-on through presentations, events, etc., and the experiences we get from each assignment. In our very first class, each of us (the students) presented ourselves to get used to the first days of a new semester, gain some trust among us, and get to know ea...
